Financial Responsibility

Please join me by reading the daily meditation from “The Language of Letting Go” by Melody Beattie and share your thoughts in the comment space provided at the end of this post (Click on the Read More button to read the complete thought for the day).

The Serenity Prayer states that we can find Serenity if we learn to accept things that we can not change.  The past spending is one of those thing that are in the past and there is nothing that we can do to change the past.  Then we need to change the things that we can change.  Which would be our current spending habits.  Finally, we need to have the wisdom to know the difference between situations in the past that we can change now and situations in the past that we can not change now.

This process of taking financial responsibility is not easy.  I am faced with feelings like shame, regret, anger, blaming and fear.  I have to remind my self that if I stay in the past focused upon things that are out of my control then these feelings grow.  When I remember that I do not have to live in fear and let these negative emotions have there way with me.  Then I remember that I do not have to face this day alone and I ask for God’s guidance.  This awareness allows peace and faith to occupy the space where fear had resided just moments earlier.

As I continue to learned to live my life anchored in the Serenity Prayer, I find that I am regaining my balance Physically, Financially, Spiritually, and Emotionally.  This process happens one day at a time and sometimes one moment at I time as I attempt to understand what God’s will is for my life.  This understanding allows me to feel joy, peace, hope, love and serenity as I take responsibility financially and make the changes in my life that I can.

Today: I trust that all things will work out as I take responsibility for my financial mistakes and my current choices which have allowed me to regain my financial balance.
